Radiation Quotes By Laini Taylor

It was as if she had emitted a pulse of radiation that reached him even where he stood, and it bathed him and it burned him. — Laini Taylor

Radiation Quotes By Timothy Murphy

The technology used to detect if vehicles are carrying radioactive material is so sensitive it can tell if a person recently received radiation as part of a medical procedure. — Timothy Murphy

Radiation Quotes By Charles W. Pickering

The current lack of a national standard for operators of medical imaging and radiation therapy equipment poses a hazard to American patients and jeopardizes quality health care. — Charles W. Pickering

Radiation Quotes By Peter Redgrove

Some may wonder whether part of the harvest of this invisible pollution (electromagnetic radiation) may be the comparative rarity of visionary experience in the modern world, and the predominence of a removed, overanalytical, repelling 'onlooker' intelligence in its place, resembling that of the (Martin) Amis hero (who will not see because he cannot feel). If this is so, such an intelligence has produced conditions favoring its evolution and survival. — Peter Redgrove

Radiation Quotes By Michio Kaku

It's very dangerous to put astronauts on a moon base where there's radiation, solar flares and micro meteorites. It'd be much better to put robots on the moon and have them mentally connected to astronauts on the Earth. — Michio Kaku

Radiation Quotes By Steven Magee

As a radiation researcher, I am at one with being perceived as crazy! — Steven Magee

Radiation Quotes By Catherine Ponder

It is easy to speak words of love, or to meditate lovingly upon those people with whom you are in harmony. But it is those people who seem most difficult, who may even seem hostile, that need your radiation of love most. Their very hostility is but their soul's cry for loving recognition. When you generate sufficient love to them, the discord will fade away. — Catherine Ponder

Radiation Quotes By Siddhartha Mukherjee

In a spiritual sense, a positive attitude may help you get through chemotherapy and surgery and radiation and what have you. But a positive mental attitude does not cure cancer - any more than a negative mental attitude causes cancer. — Siddhartha Mukherjee

Radiation Quotes By Charles Glover Barkla

The process of radiation may be, and is, continuous - at any rate within limits extending to far smaller quantities than the quantum. — Charles Glover Barkla

Radiation Quotes By Christina Baker Kline

Radiation is relentless: my protocol is five days a week, 33 sessions altogether. — Christina Baker Kline

Radiation Quotes By Werner Heisenberg

It is seen that both matter and radiation possess a remarkable duality of character, as they sometimes exhibit the properties of waves, at other times those of particles. Now, it is obvious that a thing cannot be a form of wave motion and composed of particles at the same time - the two concepts are too different. — Werner Heisenberg

Radiation Quotes By Regina Brett

When I was 41, I found a lump the size of a grape in my right breast. I ended up bald, sick and exhausted from surgeries, chemo and radiation treatments. Ah, but I got to live. — Regina Brett

Radiation Quotes By Vijay Kumar

Normally, in the presence of radiation, communication links fail. But with autonomous robots, you don't need communications. — Vijay Kumar

Radiation Quotes By John Stossel

Natural gas is highly explosive, invisible, poisonous, and odorless. Yet we accept natural gas, even though it kills not two but 400 Americans a year, because it was introduced before we got crazy about risk. We accept coal, even though mining it is nasty and filthy and kills dozens of people every year. By contrast, we're terrified of nuclear energy. Chernobyl, the worst nuclear power disaster ever, killed only 30 people. Some say the radiation may eventually kill others, but even if that's true, natural gas kills more people every year. — John Stossel

Radiation Quotes By Luis Walter Alvarez

I'm convinced that a controlled disrespect for authority is essential to a scientist. All the good experimental physicists I have known have had an intense curiosity that no Keep Out sign could mute. Physicists do, of course, show a healthy respect for High Voltage, Radiation, and Liquid Hydrogen signs. They are not reckless. I can think of only six who have been killed on the job. — Luis Walter Alvarez

Radiation Quotes By L. Ron Hubbard

Scientology is the only specific (cure) for radiation (atomic bomb) burns. — L. Ron Hubbard

Radiation Quotes By A.J. Lauer

You are one of the unfortunate ones whose body decays rapidly in the face of radiation poisoning. You hang your head over the toilet to vomit again and again, and die praying to the porcelain gods. — A.J. Lauer

Radiation Quotes By Bruce Ames

Folic acid deficiency does the same thing as radiation. — Bruce Ames

Radiation Quotes By Timothy Ferriss

you don't need to understand any of the biology, just as you don't need to understand radiation to use a microwave oven. — Timothy Ferriss

Radiation Quotes By Drew Karpyshyn

The notes on the flash drive showed a steady progression into dementia, a deteriorating mental state directly linked to incidents of exposure to Sovereign. There must have been some kind of field generated by the vessel; some kind of radiation or emission. Something that had destroyed and corrupted Qian's mind when he went to study it in person. It had affected Edan, too, though the transformation was more subtle. The batarian had begun acting differently from the moment he first visited the site of the artifact: consorting with humans, risking the wrath of the Spectres. Edan probably hadn't even been aware of the changes, though looking back it was obvious to Saren. — Drew Karpyshyn

Radiation Quotes By Cynthia Nixon

I had a lumpectomy. It wasn't that bad. Six and a half weeks of radiation. — Cynthia Nixon

Radiation Quotes By Charles W. Pickering

Millions of Americans every year depend upon medical imaging exams to diagnose disease and detect injury, and thousands more rely on radiation therapy to treat and cure their cancers. — Charles W. Pickering

Radiation Quotes By Ann Coulter

There is a growing body of evidence that radiation in excess of what the government says are the minimum amounts we should be exposed to are actually good for you and reduce cases of cancer. — Ann Coulter

Radiation Quotes By William George Jordan

Life is a state of constant radiation and absorption; to exist is to radiate; to exist is to be the recipient of radiations. — William George Jordan

Radiation Quotes By Zu Vincent

I finally understand. Cancer is not a gypsy curse. It's a huge smashing wave. It catches you and drags you out. And anybody can be spit back up, and anybody can drown. -The Lucky Place — Zu Vincent

Radiation Quotes By James S.A. Corey

The massive radiation exposure had failed to give him superpowers. — James S.A. Corey

Radiation Quotes By David Walton

You are so hot," I said.
"How hot?" she asked, toying with the hem of the shirt.
"Ionising radiation hot," I said. "Neutral pion decay hot."
Elena snorted. "You're such a romantic," she said. — David Walton

Radiation Quotes By David Wolfe

Chaga is the most powerful cancer-fighting herb known and fights all kinds of radiation damage to healthy tissue. — David Wolfe

Radiation Quotes By Steven Magee

Radiation has properties of both God and Satan. Like God as the correct exposures give excellent health. Like Satan because too little or too much will make you sick and may lead to disease and premature death. — Steven Magee

Radiation Quotes By Werner Heisenberg

The incomplete knowledge of a system must be an essential part of every formulation in quantum theory. Quantum theoretical laws must be of a statistical kind. To give an example: we know that the radium atom emits alpha-radiation. Quantum theory can give us an indication of the probability that the alpha-particle will leave the nucleus in unit time, but it cannot predict at what precise point in time the emission will occur, for this is uncertain in principle. — Werner Heisenberg

Radiation Quotes By Andy Weir

As with most of life's problems, this one can be solved by a box of pure radiation. — Andy Weir

Radiation Quotes By Albert Einstein

I find the idea quite intolerable that an electron exposed to radiation should choose of its own free will not only its moment to jump off but its direction. In that case I would rather be a cobbler, or even an employee in a gaming house, than a physicist. — Albert Einstein

Radiation Quotes By Natasa Nuit Pantovic

when a particle and antiparticle touch
they both disappear in a burst
of gamma radiation
that generates huge amount of energy...
can this be Love?' Art of 4 Elements — Natasa Nuit Pantovic

Radiation Quotes By Steven Magee

Radiation can have profound effects on current and pre-existing injuries. — Steven Magee

Radiation Quotes By Victor Francis Hess

It may well be said that the answer to the question: Of what do the cosmic rays in fact consist before they produce their familiar secondary radiation phenomena in the earth's atmosphere? can only be obtained from numerous measurements in the stratosphere. — Victor Francis Hess

Radiation Quotes By Junot Diaz

As expected: she, the daughter of the Fall, recipient of its heaviest radiation, loved atomically. — Junot Diaz

Radiation Quotes By Quil Carter

And with the smallest intake of breath he had painted me a picture. Ash that stung your tongue like poisoned snowflakes and breaths of air that burned your lungs without fire — Quil Carter

Radiation Quotes By Franz Kafka

Evil is the radiation of the human consciousness in certain transitional positions. It is not actually the sensual world that is amere appearance; what is so is the evil of it, which, admittedly, is what constitutes the sensual world in our eyes. — Franz Kafka

Radiation Quotes By Pope Pius XII

In fact, it seems that present-day science, with one sweeping step back across millions of centuries, has succeeded in bearing witness to that primordial 'Fiat lux' Let there be light uttered at the moment when, along with matter, there burst forth from nothing a sea of light and radiation, while the particles of the chemical elements split and formed into millions of galaxies ... Hence, creation took place in time, therefore, there is a Creator, God exists! — Pope Pius XII

Radiation Quotes By Rosalie Bertell

There is no safe level of exposure to ionizing radiation, and the search for quantifying such a safe level is in vain. — Rosalie Bertell

Radiation Quotes By Steven Magee

The problem with radiation research is that you are constantly battling the biological effects of delayed radiation complications. — Steven Magee

Radiation Quotes By Steven Magee

Eating organic for good health and spending your day sitting down using a wireless computer that is next to a WiFi router is a classic case of Yin & Yang. — Steven Magee

Radiation Quotes By R.W. Van Bemmelen

An example of such emergent phenomena is the origin of life from non-living chemical compounds in the oldest, lifeless oceans of the earth. Here, aided by the radiation energy received from the sun, countless chemical materials were synthesized and accumulated in such a way that they constituted, as it were, a primeval "soup." In this primeval soup, by infinite variations of lifeless growth and decay of substances during some billions of years, the way of life was ultimately reached, with its metabolism characterized by selective assimilation and dissimilation as end stations of a sluiced and canalized flow of free chemical energy. — R.W. Van Bemmelen

Radiation Quotes By Charles D. Hayes

Of course, peer pressure has a strong positive component. It provides the social cohesion that allows the very development of communal affiliation. But peer power as an extrinsic force is a lot like radiation: a little goes a long way. — Charles D. Hayes

Radiation Quotes By Buzz Aldrin

The life expectancy of people going to Mars may be decreased by the higher level of radiation that they receive. — Buzz Aldrin

Radiation Quotes By Hildegard Of Bingen

All living creatures are sparks from the radiation of God's brilliance, emerging from God like the rays of the sun. — Hildegard Of Bingen

Radiation Quotes By Michael Greger

Oregano is such an antioxidant-rich herb that researchers decided to see if it could reduce the DNA-damaging effects of radiation. — Michael Greger

Radiation Quotes By Richard A. Muller

THIS book is radioactive. And so are you. Unless you are dead, in which case we can tell how long ago you died by how much of your radioactivity is left. That's what radiocarbon dating is - the measurement of the reduction of radioactivity of old bones to deduce the time of death. Alcohol is radioactive too - at least the kind we drink. Rubbing alcohol usually isn't, unless it was made organically - that is, from wood. In fact, the US Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives tests wine, gin, whiskey, and vodka for radioactivity. A fifth of whiskey must emit at least 400 beta rays every minute or the drink is considered unfit for human consumption. Biofuels are radioactive. Fossil fuels are not. Of those killed by the Hiroshima atomic bomb, the best estimate is that fewer than 2% died of radiation-induced cancer. These statements are all true. They are not even disputed, at least by experts. Yet they surprise most people. — Richard A. Muller

Radiation Quotes By Lee Smolin

The entropy of the hot radiation she observes as a result of her acceleration turns out to be exactly proportional to the area of her horizon! This relationship between the area of a horizon and entropy was discovered by a Ph.D. student named Jacob Bekenstein, who was working at Princeton at about the time that Bill Unruh made his great discovery. Both were students of John Wheeler who a few years before had given the black hole its name. Bekenstein and Unruh were in a long line of remarkable students Wheeler trained, which included Richard Feynman. — Lee Smolin

Radiation Quotes By Annie Oldham

I wear a solar radiation suit. The lights we have over our artificial fields simulate real sunlight, so if I were in there for too long, I'd get a sunburn just like if I was on a beach. I guess up on the Burn (that's what we call the land) they had something called sunscreen, but then some dermatologist down here designed the solar radiation suits and said they were much more effective protection. Sometimes I want to smack him. — Annie Oldham

Radiation Quotes By Steven Magee

The vitamin, mineral, metal and oil content of the human body drastically alters its reactivity to radiation exposures. — Steven Magee

Radiation Quotes By Andy Weir

Yeah, I definitely pulled something in my back. I woke up in agony. So I took a break from rover planning. Instead, I spent the day taking drugs and playing with radiation. — Andy Weir

Radiation Quotes By J.G. Ballard

Massive cerebral damage and abdominal bleeding in automobile accidents could be imitated within half an hour, aided by the application of suitable coloured resins. Convincing radiation burns required careful preparation, and might involve some three to four hours of makeup. Death, by contrast, was a matter of lying prone. — J.G. Ballard

Radiation Quotes By Steven Magee

The greatest act of domestic terrorism in the history of the USA is currently in process and the culprits are the energy, electrical, electronics and wireless radiation industries. — Steven Magee

"I usually don't think in those terms. — Cynthia Joyce Clay

Radiation Quotes By Steven Magee

People who have metal implants should be familiar with the symptoms of radio wave sickness and should keep their environment free of wireless radiation producing products. — Steven Magee

Radiation Quotes By Nadine Gordimer

Where do whites fit in the New Africa? Nowhere, I'm inclined to sayand I do believe that it is true that even the gentlest and most westernised Africans would like the emotional idea of the continent entirely without the complication of the presence of the white man for a generation or two. But nowhere, as an answer for us whites, is in the same category as remarks like What's the use of living? in the face of the threat of atomic radiation. We are living; we are in Africa. — Nadine Gordimer

Radiation Quotes By David Gross

When I was at Berkeley, the framework of quantum field theory could calculate the dynamics of electromagnetism. It could roughly describe the motion of the weak nuclear force, radiation. But it hit a brick wall with the strong interaction, the binding force. — David Gross

Radiation Quotes By Walther Bothe

The material particle nature of primary cosmic radiation has been confirmed, although the processes turned out to be extraordinarily more complicated than we had assumed. — Walther Bothe

Radiation Quotes By Charles Stross

I'd like to be proven wrong on the difficulty of handling the medical side-effects of long term exposure to deep space (both microgravity induced illnesses and radiation damage). — Charles Stross

Radiation Quotes By Steven Magee

Unnaturally high radiation levels increases aggression in people — Steven Magee

If you go on a journey to Mars and get into deep space, there is several hundred times, maybe 300 times the radiation. — Scott Kelly

Radiation Quotes By Benjamin Creme

One of the deadliest issues is the nuclear radiation pouring from every nuclear power station in the world. With every atomic process and experimentation that is going on, high-level nuclear radiation is pouring out at the highest level. — Benjamin Creme

Radiation Quotes By Nevil Shute

Here they go cruising for a fortnight up in parts where everyone is dead of radiation, and all that they can catch is measles! — Nevil Shute

Radiation Quotes By James Gleick

Radiation Quotes By Mehmet Murat Ildan

A gazelle runs faster than us; cockroaches are remarkably tolerant of radiation; every being has some superiority; in remembering this, be very humble! — Mehmet Murat Ildan

Radiation Quotes By Terri Windling

Snow-melt in the stream: Mama Nature turning winter's storms into nourishment for the soil, fecundity, and beauty. This is what I must now learn to do with the stormy weather I've been passing through: turn it into beauty, turn it into art, so new life can germinate and bloom.
One example of a creative artist who does this is my friend Jane Yolen, who wrote her exquisite book of poems The Radiation Sonnets while her husband was undergoing treatment for the cancer that would eventually claim his life. This is what all artists must do: take whatever life gives us and "alchemize" it into our art (either directly and autobiographically, as in Jane's book, or indirectly; whatever approach works best), turning darkness into light, spinning straw into gold, transforming pain and hardship into what J.R.R. Tolkien called 'a miraculous grace. — Terri Windling

Radiation Quotes By Antony J. Stanton

From conversations with her husband she was aware that the static came from a number of sources such as the atmosphere, other electrical equipment and even, incredibly, an amount from the noise of radiation emitted in the origin of the universe's Big Bang. To her however, it was the sounds of the souls of countless millions of people who had perished in this international disaster, brushing past her in the ether on their way to the afterlife. — Antony J. Stanton

Radiation Quotes By Steven Magee

We live in a society where those in the know use radiation resistance health techniques. — Steven Magee

Radiation Quotes By Nicole Williams

I'm cancer, Luce. And not the kind that you can kill off with radiation. The kind that kills you in the end. — Nicole Williams

Radiation Quotes By Bob McNair

The radiation was worse by far. I had bandages all over my head. I looked like a mummy. On the side of my head and neck and down to my collarbone, I had second-degree burns. My skin blistered and peeled before it grew back. That was the worst part of it. — Bob McNair

Radiation Quotes By Max Barry

Of course the Curies died. They identified ionizing radiation while bathing in it. There were risks involved in being your own guinea pig. But there was a long tradition of scientists doing just that: of paying for the expansion of human knowledge with their lives. I didn't deserve to be categorized with them, because honestly, I wasn't interested in the greater good. I just wanted to make myself better legs. I didn't mind other people benefiting in some long-term indirect way but it wasn't what motivated me. I felt guilty about this for a while. Every time a lab assistant looked at me with starstruck eyes, I felt I should confess: Look, I'm not being heroic. I'm just interested in seeing what I can do. Then it occured to me that maybe they all felt this way. All these great scientists who risked their themselves to bring light to darkness, maybe they weren't especially altruistic either. Maybe they were like me, seeing what they could do. — Max Barry

Radiation Quotes By Albert Pike

The double law of attraction and radiation or of sympathy and antipathy, of fixedness and movement, which is the principle of Creation, and the perpetual cause of life. — Albert Pike

Radiation Quotes By Khabibullo Abdusamatov

Global warming results not from the emission of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere, but from an unusually high level of solar radiation and a lengthy - almost throughout the last century - growth in its intensity. — Khabibullo Abdusamatov

Radiation Quotes By Steven Magee

Columbus has the standing egg, Tesla has the electromagnetic egg and Magee has the irradiated egg. — Steven Magee

Radiation Quotes By Michio Kaku

It's risky to allow radiation to constantly go up into the atmosphere. The main criticism of this approach of entombing it is that it would cost too much, involve too many resources and people. But think of the cost of having all the crops impounded by the government, all the milk being thrown into the river, people's livelihoods destroyed. — Michio Kaku

Radiation Quotes By Steven Magee

It is the uninformed that drive around in radio frequency (RF) radiation filled cars. — Steven Magee

Radiation Quotes By Charles Glover Barkla

When X-rays traverse matter of any kind, this matter becomes a source of a radiation similar in character to that of the primary radiation falling upon it. — Charles Glover Barkla

Radiation Quotes By Eric Topol

When you're asked to have a CT scan or a nuclear scan, do you know how much radiation that involves? How many of those sorts of scans have you already had? Is it necessary? Is there an alternative? I don't think many people know about that. — Eric Topol

Radiation Quotes By Steven Magee

Smart radiation researchers use radiation resistance health techniques in order to offset the known biological harm of their toxic radiation exposures. — Steven Magee

Radiation Quotes By Patrick Modiano

And yet, from time to time, beneath this thick layer of amnesia, you can certainly sense something, an echo, distant, muted, but of what, precisely, it is impossible to say. Like finding yourself on the edge of a magnetic field, with no pendulum to pick up the radiation. — Patrick Modiano

Radiation Quotes By Steven Magee

The USA is a hazardous place to be a radiation researcher. — Steven Magee

Radiation Quotes By Benjamin Creme

The incidence of Alzheimer's disease is growing at a pace like never before, affecting people at a younger and younger age. This is the direct effect of nuclear radiation polluting the air of our planet from the power stations and other nuclear experimentation. — Benjamin Creme

Radiation Quotes By Gail Devers

I was diagnosed with Graves' disease, an illness of the thyroid gland. Instead of surgery, I was given radiation treatment. — Gail Devers

Radiation Quotes By Stephen Hawking

My discovery that black holes emit radiation raised serious problems of consistency with the rest of physics. I have now resolved these problems, but the answer turned out to be not what I expected. — Stephen Hawking

Radiation Quotes By Lawrence M. Krauss

While the nature of this radiation will give no information whatsoever on what fell into the black hole, — Lawrence M. Krauss

Radiation Quotes By Daniel Palmer

Michelle shrugged off Sam's aggression. Her eyes misted with memories. "Our curveball was a brain tumor. A grade IV astrocytoma, to be specific. He tried all the treatments - chemo, radiation, even surgery. Nothing helped alleviate his symptoms or his suffering. He was dying in the most horrible way. Seizures, nausea, blinding headaches, memory loss like an Alzheimer's patient. I didn't know what it was like to watch someone I love suffer so much, but I can relate to Julie's pain because the experience was utterly excruciating. — Daniel Palmer

Radiation Quotes By Steven Magee

Go up in a big airplane. Go high enough, and you will see the radiation rainbow interference ring around the shadow of the airplane on the clouds below. — Steven Magee

Radiation Quotes By Conan O'Brien

California Marijuana farmers are worried that radiation from Japan could affect their crops. Or maybe for some strange reason they're just being paranoid. — Conan O'Brien

Radiation Quotes By Liu Cixin

Should could no longer feel grief. She was now like a Geiger counter that had been subjected to too much radiation, no longer capable of giving any reaction, noiselessly displaying a reading of zero. — Liu Cixin

Radiation Quotes By Lyman Spitzer

Our knowledge of stars and interstellar matter must be based primarily on the electromagnetic radiation which reaches us. Nature has thoughtfully provided us with a universe in which radiant energy of almost all wave lengths travels in straight lines over enormous distances with usually rather negligible absorption. — Lyman Spitzer

Radiation Quotes By Eve Curie

The radiation of radium was "contagious"-Contagious like a persistent scent or a disease. It was impossible for an object, a plant, an animal or a person to be left near a tube of radium without immediately acquiring a notable "activity" which a sensitive apparatus could detect. — Eve Curie

Radiation Quotes By Norman Wisdom

At my age, the radiation will probably do me good. — Norman Wisdom

Radiation Quotes By David O. McKay

As individuals, we must think nobler thoughts. We must not encourage vile thoughts or low aspirations. We shall radiate them if we do. If we think noble thoughts, if we encourage and cherish noble aspirations, there will be that radiation when we meet people, especially when we associate with them. — David O. McKay

Radiation Quotes By Steven Magee

In 2009 I was sitting about thirty feet away from Barack Obama at the launch of Desoto Solar as he announced massive funding for the "Smart Grid". I had no idea that I would later become a victim of the "Smart Grid". Yes, they knew in 2009 that these devices were harming people and continued to fund the program. — Steven Magee

Radiation Quotes By Hal Hager

...Alas, Babylon was to be among the first to give a public voice to the fears and anxieties associated with a nuclear attack and with threats of atomic radiation. And unlike others in the genre, he offered unmitigated hope. Randy Bragg and company not only survive the devastation that leaves vast Contaminated Zones throughout the United States, but they also apply the best in themselves to begin the re-establishment of life within a civil society. All of the atomic fears of the 1950s (and later) are there, but Frank's 'message' seems to be that we can survive even the worst catastrophe with everyday, secularized applications of faith, hope, and charity. — Hal Hager
