It's all about the relationships; forming them and sustaining them, growing and building a back and forth that will be useful to both parties. I don't know why one person gets sick, and another does not, but I can only assume that some natural laws which we don't understand are at work. Religion has no power if God is not truly 'dangerous,' but religion also seeks to manage God, and make God safe.
The second commandment speaks against the management of God. We cannot help but make our images of God, for God has given us imagination.
