Staches Columbus Quotes By Gary Hines

About the Story

Not all the details in this story are true. The times some events occurred have been changed, and the conversations are made up. Most of the things Tad Lincoln did in this story reportedly happened, including saving Jack the turkey and bombarding the Cabinet Room door with his toy cannon. Tad really was determined to raise money to help wounded soldiers and did persuade his father to pardon a woman's husband so he wouldn't be shot. Although Tad's antics often annoyed his father's staff, most agreed he had a big heart and a special way with animals. Once he even hitched goats to a chair and ran them through the White House, upsetting a gathering of dignified ladies. Nothing was too surprising when it came to Tad.
Although several presidents had declared occasional days of thanksgiving, none had ever officially made it a national holiday. Abraham Lincoln finally did so with his Proclamation of Thanksgiving on October 3, 1863. — Gary Hines

Staches Columbus Quotes By Daisaku Ikeda

Human wisdom has advanced to the point where man can construct satellites. And yet man in his wisdom cannot find a way to rescue and old woman in Vietnam from her tragic plight. We can't wait to find out what the pockmarked face of the far side of the moon loks like, but we have no time to consider what meaning those wrinkles of sorrow etched deep into tha face of an old woman may have for us — Daisaku Ikeda

Staches Columbus Quotes By Craig D. Lounsbrough

The assumption is that if I expend myself for myself in the end all I'll be left with is myself, and that alone is frightening. But what I've failed to consider is that I have to expend so much of myself living for myself that in the end I'm really left with very little of myself, and that is unimaginably frightening. — Craig D. Lounsbrough

Staches Columbus Quotes By Paramahansa Yogananda

Introspection, or 'sitting in the silence,' is an unscientific way of trying to force apart the mind and senses, tied together by the life force. The contemplative mind, attempting its return to divinity, is constantly dragged back toward the senses by the life currents. — Paramahansa Yogananda

People who want to wage cultural wars ought to keep in mind that cultural views often don't move at all for a very long time, but when they move they can move very fast. — David Frum

I enjoy meeting new people and feeling free to be myself for five seconds every single time. After that, they're not new anymore. — Robin Sacredfire

Staches Columbus Quotes By Joseph Goebbels

The war we are fighting until victory or the bitter end is in its deepest sense a war between Christ and Marx. Christ: the principle of love. Marx: the principle of hate. — Joseph Goebbels

Staches Columbus Quotes By Minnie Driver

I swear to God, I would marry the first person who asked me, just because it seems so completely impossible that anyone would ask. — Minnie Driver

Staches Columbus Quotes By Kelly Clarkson

I've just never cared what people think. It's more if I'm happy and I'm confident and feeling good, that's always been my thing, — Kelly Clarkson

Staches Columbus Quotes By E. Nesbit

I'll plant and water, sow and weed, Till not an inch of earth shows brown, And take a vow of each small seed To grow to greenness and renown: And then some day you'll pass my way, See gold and crimson, bell and star, And catch my garden's soul, and say: "How sweet these cottage gardens are!" — E. Nesbit
