Metrics Quotes By William Leake

savvy marketers are moving to an evaluation of the impact that all ad impressions - whether clicked or not - have on consumer behavior, mirroring the manner in which traditional advertising has been measured for decades using reach and frequency metrics. — William Leake

Metrics Quotes By Arianna Huffington

Don't just climb the ladder of success - a ladder that leads, after all, to higher and higher levels of stress and burnout - but chart a new path to success, remaking it in a way that includes not just the conventional metrics of money and power, but a third metric that includes well-being, wisdom, wonder and giving, so that the goal is not just to succeed but to thrive. — Arianna Huffington

Metrics Quotes By Eric Ries

Vanity metrics are the numbers you want to publish on TechCrunch to make your competitors feel bad. — Eric Ries

Metrics Quotes By Steve Case

Third Wave technology will also change how we measure success in the classroom. What good is an annual standardized test, after all, once teachers and parents can get detailed reports with a wide range of metrics, comparing their students on a regular basis to others in their class or school or state? In this way, big data on individual students will do for education what standardized testing never quite could: bring quantitative precision to a qualitative learning process. — Steve Case

Metrics Quotes By Pearl Zhu

IT metrics have to evolve from being a cost center to becoming a revenue generator. — Pearl Zhu

Metrics Quotes By Ian Brodie

Without the right marketing metrics, you are shooting in the dark. The only way to know if things are working for you or not is those metrics. — Ian Brodie

Metrics Quotes By Capers Jones

Perhaps the worst software technology of all time was the use of physical lines of code [for metrics]. Continued use of this approach, in the author's opinion, should be considered professional malpractice. — Capers Jones

Metrics Quotes By Simon Mainwaring

When a positive exchange between a brand and customers becomes quantifiable metrics, it encourages brand to provide better service, customer service to do a better job, and consumers to actively show their gratitude. — Simon Mainwaring

Metrics Quotes By Os Guinness

In the same way, metrics can record the frequency of our church attendance, the regularity of our Bible reading and the exact amount of our tithing, but they can never gauge the genuineness of any of them, or whether they are any better than "the noise of the solemn assemblies" against which the prophets fulminated. — Os Guinness

Metrics Quotes By Arthur Laffer

There are 11 states in the United States that in the last 50 years instituted an income tax. So I looked at each of those 11 states over the last 50 years, and I took their current economic metrics and their metrics for the five years before they put in the progressive income tax. Every single state that introduced a progressive income tax has declined as an overall share of the U.S. economy. — Arthur Laffer

Metrics Quotes By Thomas Friedman

Google attracts so much talent, it can afford to look beyond traditional metrics, like G.P.A. For most young people, though, going to college and doing well is still the best way to master the tools needed for many careers. — Thomas Friedman

Metrics Quotes By Richard Armitage

The CIA estimates that Iraq probably has a few hundred metric tons of chemical weapons agents, for mustard gas, sarin, and other deadly concoctions. This is addition to an extensive capacity to produce biological weapons, including anthrax and ricin, which is fatal within 24 to 36 hours of exposure. — Richard Armitage

Metrics Quotes By Emily Goldstein

You as the leader should have a Function Accountability Chart (FAC) to help CEOs and managers to see clearly the person who is accountable for each role and key positions. It should also show the metrics or key performance indicators assigned for each of the main functions of the business. Each item on the Profit & Loss, and Balance Sheet should be assigned to specific people who are accountable for these roles. Each team should know their responsibilities, accountabilities and who they are answerable — Emily Goldstein

Metrics Quotes By Thomas Kane

In 2009, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation launched a massive project to study 3,000 teachers in seven cities and learn what made them effective. The five metrics that most correlated with student learning were:
1. Students in this class treat the teacher with respect.
2. My classmates behave the way my teacher wants them to.
3. Our class stays busy and doesn't waste time.
4. In this class, we learn a lot almost every day.
5. In this class, we learn to correct our mistakes. — Thomas Kane

Metrics Quotes By David R. Slavitt

He had not been able to see it in himself, but looking at Hungerford, he was able at least to speculate on the possibility that fear, raw, physical fear, had a kind of gift to give, too. Who but the terrified has heard his own heart pounding, listened to his own stertorous breathing, wishing that heart and lungs would be more quiet, and yet learning in their pulsation the lessons of rhythm and metrics? (Anagrams, p. 80) — David R. Slavitt

Metrics Quotes By Kevin Rose

Digg will serve as a means of gathering metrics for third party websites, providing them insights into who's digging their content, who they are spreading it to. — Kevin Rose

Metrics Quotes By Arianna Huffington

At the moment, our society's notion of success is largely composed of two parts: money and power. But it's time for a third metric, beyond money and power - one founded on well-being, wisdom, our ability to wonder, and to give back. — Arianna Huffington

Metrics Quotes By John Ridley

Why don't we hear more about and from Asians when it comes to race in America? Are Asians the new Invisible Man - there but not there? In some ways, yeah. Blacks and whites are always carping about the metrics of racism. And any conversation about immigration reform is immediately flipped into a referendum on Hispanics. — John Ridley

Metrics Quotes By Arthur Laffer

Let's take the nine states that have no income tax and compare them with the nine states with the highest income tax rates in the nation. If you look at the economic metrics over the last decade for both groups, the zero-income-tax-rate states outperform the highest-income-tax-rate states by a fairly sizable amount. — Arthur Laffer

Metrics Quotes By Tom Freston

I think online is a better platform. If you look at the metrics, if you look at the delivery system, if you look at social - all of the things that online can do - TV can't compete. — Tom Freston

Metrics Quotes By James Fenton

Metrics are not a device for restraining the mad, any more than 'open form' or free verse is a prairie where a man can do all kinds of manly things in a state of wholesome unrestrictedness. — James Fenton

Metrics Quotes By Thomas W. Laqueur

The falseness of the seventeenth century became a large measure of the truth by the nineteenth. Money made the man, or at least went a long way toward doing so; and death became the occasion for a final accounting, a stocktaking of worldly success. Of course, there were other metrics: virtue, martyrdom, political standing, fraternal ties. But it took money to publicize them. The funeral became more and more a standardized commodity whose cost could be matched with exquisite precision to the class and degree of 'respectability' of the deceased. When one bought a funeral, one bought a more or less splendid parade, each additional bauble, each horse, each feather or set of nails adding to the base price. Bit by bit, finery accumulated, and by looking at the account books of an undertaker who specialized in pauper funerals, we can begin to see the bounds of decency in death. — Thomas W. Laqueur

Metrics Quotes By Eric Hobsbawm

The most lasting and universal consequence of the French revolution is the metric system — Eric Hobsbawm

Metrics Quotes By Jim McDonough

When I moved into management, it was all about managing people and keeping them motivated - I didn't use sales metrics to drive my business. Now, everything comes from the numbers. — Jim McDonough

You can create alarms using Elastic Load Balancing Dimensions and Metrics. For more information, see Monitor Your Load Balancer Using Amazon CloudWatch in the Elastic Load Balancing Developer Guide. — Amazon Web Services

Metrics Quotes By Jeffrey Hollender

I think that today, more so than ever, corporate responsibility is the best strategic as well as financial path that most businesses can follow. For most businesses there are both compelling reasons to be responsible and compelling statistics that validate that responsible businesses do better according to traditional financial metrics. Of course, how you define "responsible" is somewhat of a conundrum. — Jeffrey Hollender

Metrics Quotes By Mitch Harper

You've got to tell a story, paint a vision, know your metrics and sell, sell, sell. — Mitch Harper

Metrics Quotes By Randy Pausch

You will not find your passion in things and you will not find your passion in money. The more things and the more money you have, the more you will look around and use that as the metric and there will be someone with more. — Randy Pausch

Metrics Quotes By Steven Gary Blank

My advice was to start a policy of making reversible decisions before anyone left the meeting or the office. In a startup, it doesn't matter if you're 100 percent right 100 percent of the time. What matters is having forward momentum and a tight fact-based data/metrics feedback loop to help you quickly recognize and reverse any incorrect decisions. That's why startups are agile. By the time a big company gets the committee to organize the subcommittee to pick a meeting date, your startup could have made 20 decisions, reversed five of them and implemented the fifteen that worked. — Steven Gary Blank

Metrics Quotes By Jesse Helms

If God had wanted us to use the metric system, Jesus would have had 10 apostles. — Jesse Helms

Metrics Quotes By Charles Schumer

We've come to a basic agreement, which is that first, people will be legalized. In other words, not citizens, but they'll be allowed to work, come out of the shadows, travel. Then, we will make sure the border is secure. And we have specific metrics that are in the bill. I'm not going to get into what they are ... — Charles Schumer

Metrics Quotes By Andrew Mason

The list of companies that have added their own financial metrics is not a savory group. — Andrew Mason

Metrics Quotes By Bill Gates

You have to have a certain realism that government is a pretty blunt instrument, and without the constant attention of highly qualified people with the right metrics, it will fall into not doing things very well. — Bill Gates

Metrics Quotes By Anonymous

following one process and the development team with different process philosophies, terms and metrics. In Waterfall, once a "plan" is baked and approved, there is an expectation that the plan will be followed and delivered upon, even if the development team is using Agile to execute. Now I'm going to say it, "But that's not truly Agile," since Agile requires the plan to be flexible and consistently reprioritized and revised. We see this approach so often that we've heard many describe it as, "WaterScrumFall. " It's really business as usual — Anonymous

Metrics Quotes By Leila Janah

I used to think my job as a CEO meant managing metrics and meeting goals, but I've realised now that's it's about managing my board and employees. — Leila Janah

Metrics Quotes By Steve Denning

It's not a question of whether the transition from old to the new goals, practices and metrics is going to happen. It's already under way. — Steve Denning

Metrics Quotes By Grover Norquist

Spending is not caring. Spending is what politicians do instead of caring. Spending more does not guarantee success. Politicians like to measure spending because it is easier than measuring actual metrics of accomplishment. — Grover Norquist

Metrics Quotes By Pearl Zhu

Keep in mind, measurement is not just numbers, but stories. — Pearl Zhu

Metrics Quotes By Nolan Bushnell

All schools will end up using game metrics in the future. — Nolan Bushnell

Metrics Quotes By Pearl Zhu

Performance metrics are numbers in context, results are related to your strategic goals. — Pearl Zhu

Metrics Quotes By Donna Shalala

We know the parental support, community support, makes a difference. It's not just the metrics of testing and putting pressure on the schools and on the teachers. — Donna Shalala

Metrics Quotes By P. J. O'Rourke

Drugs have taught an entire generation of kids the metric system — P. J. O'Rourke

Metrics Quotes By Biz Stone

I invite you to open your mind to new possibilities. Let's fake it till we make it. Let's create visions of an aspirational future. You don't have to quit your job. But think about what might change your trajectory by half a degree. It could be that when you come home every night your first words are "I'm home! How can I help?" Try doing that. You may have a shitty job. You don't like it. You do it for the money, even if the money isn't great. Try to look at your work in a different way. Find something about your life that's great. Follow that thread. Volunteer. Even if you're in the worst possible situation, there's hope. Challenge yourself. Set your own bar. Redefine your success metrics. Create opportunities for yourself. Reassess your situation. We are all marching together. We're headed toward something big, and it's going to be good. — Biz Stone

Metrics Quotes By Pearl Zhu

Management innovation has both hard elements such as process and metrics; and soft elements such as communication and culture. — Pearl Zhu

Metrics Quotes By Benjamin Carson

I would love to see music reinstated as an essential part of schooling. The culture that it brings; the knowledge that it brings. Just learning how to read music requires metrics, and I think that helps you with mathematics. A lot of scientists and doctors have a musical background - it's very interesting. — Benjamin Carson

Metrics Quotes By Salvador Dali

God invented man, and man invented the metric system. — Salvador Dali

Metrics Quotes By Anonymous

Increasingly, there will be accountability to the business side, especially in the world of ad viewability. This is the awkward term for a new insistence from marketers that they'll pay up only if at least 50% of an ad is in view for at least one continuous second. In that scenario, reading versus browsing is critical because it means ads on a post will be seen, pushing up click-throughs and ad rates. I suggested Super Journalists would get paid for hitting certain time-spent metrics. Well, for one post anyway, I hit a few super numbers tracked by Moat. After about 1,000 views, my average active dwell time (that is, time spent reading) was — Anonymous

Metrics Quotes By Sam Altman

You should always know how you're doing against your metrics. You should always have a weekly review meeting every week. — Sam Altman

Metrics Quotes By Verlon Fosner

The church-growth movement of the 1960s brought many positive insights to the American landscape. However, one negative result is that it focused leaders so intently on their organization and strategies that it blinded them to the importance of place. Further, it created such a common vision of church that leaders actually began to believe that if they organized their churches according to the church-growth metrics, they would thrive no matter where they were located. These ideas eclipsed the theology of place almost altogether. But — Verlon Fosner

Metrics Quotes By Robert Pozen

You need to agree with your boss about what you need to get done that week, what are the metrics of success. Sometimes you need more hours, sometimes you need fewer hours. — Robert Pozen

Metrics Quotes By Clayton M Christensen

... I came to understand that while many of us might default to measuring our lives by summary statistics, such as number of people presided over, number of awards, or dollars accumulated in a bank, and so on, the only metrics that will truly matter to my life are the individuals whom I have been able to help, one by one, to become better people. — Clayton M Christensen

Metrics Quotes By Robert Graves

Philosophy is antipoetic. Philosophize about mankind and you brush aside individual uniqueness, which a poet cannot do without self-damage. Unless, for a start, he has a strong personal rhythm to vary his metrics, he is nothing. Poets mistrust philosophy. They know that once the heads are counted, each owner of a head loses his personal identify and becomes a number in some government scheme: if not as a slave or serf, at least as a party to the device of majority voting, which smothers personal views. — Robert Graves

Metrics Quotes By Greg Gutfeld

I don't understand why a 40 is a quarter of beer when a 40 is 40 ounces. It's time to embrace the metric system. — Greg Gutfeld

Metrics Quotes By Leah Busque

From my background in travel at HotWire and Expedia, the metrics that TaskRabbit is seeing are more than double at what I saw at both those companies. — Leah Busque

Metrics Quotes By Nicholas Kristof

Remember that disadvantage is less about income than environment. The best metrics of child poverty aren't monetary, but rather how often a child is read to or hugged. — Nicholas Kristof

Metrics Quotes By Mark Twain

All you drunkards: Put down the intoxicating Vanity Metrics. — Mark Twain

Metrics Quotes By Margot Bloomstein

what. Content strategy asks these questions of stakeholders and clients: Why are we doing this? What are we hoping to accomplish, change, or encourage? How will we measure the success of this initiative and the content in it? What measurements of success or metrics do we need to monitor to know if we are successful? How will we ensure the web remains a priority? What do we need to change in resources, staffing, and budgets to maintain the value of communication within and from the organization? What are we trying to communicate? What's the hierarchy of that messaging? This isn't Sophie's Choice, but when you start prioritizing features on a homepage and allocating budget to your list of features and content needs, get ready to make some tough calls. What content types best meet the needs of our target audience and their changing, multiple contexts? What content types best fit the skills of our — Margot Bloomstein

Metrics Quotes By Pearl Zhu

People do what you inspect, not what you expect. — Pearl Zhu

Metrics Quotes By Anthony W. Ulwick

For a company to innovate, it must create products and services that let consumers perform a job faster, better, more conveniently, and/or less expensively than before. To achieve this objective, companies must know what outcomes customers are trying to achieve (what metrics they use to determine how well a job is getting done) and figure out which technologies, products, and features will best satisfy the important outcomes that are currently underserved. — Anthony W. Ulwick

Metrics Quotes By Lance Secretan

As leaders, we become whole when we see that our focused, singular commitment to making the numbers and the metrics cannot be effective on its own, but only when it is part of the whole picture - only when we see that it takes more than metrics to make up the whole. — Lance Secretan

Metrics Quotes By Raph Koster

It's about who owns the servers. The servers that store your metrics. The servers that shout the ads. The servers that transmit your chat. The servers that geofence your every movement. — Raph Koster

Metrics Quotes By Clayton Christensen

Think about the metric by which your life will be judged, and make a resolution to live every day so that in the end, your life will be judged a success. — Clayton Christensen

Metrics Quotes By Moises Naim

For instance, the need of large corporations to analyze market opportunities according to established metrics prevented them from grasping the contours of nascent markets emerging around new technologies. Lower short-term profits from these new markets go against the culture of maximizing quarterly share prices. And the dilemma replicates itself with each wave of innovation: as the first companies to exploit disruptive technologies gain and grow, "it becomes progressively more difficult for them to enter the even newer smaller markets destined to become the large ones of the future."47 — Moises Naim

Metrics Quotes By Lela Loren

I think the biggest lesson is the common one that gets in the way of most of us as artists - there are these messages in society that if you aren't hitting certain metrics, then you're not successful and you're not valid. — Lela Loren

Metrics Quotes By Russel Honore

Leadership means forming a team and working toward common objectives that are tied to time, metrics, and resources. — Russel Honore

Metrics Quotes By Noah Kagan

A startup can focus on only one metric. So you have to decide what that is and ignore everything else. — Noah Kagan

Metrics Quotes By Arianna Huffington

To live the lives we truly want and deserve, and not just the lives we settle for, we need a Third Metric, a third measure of success that goes beyond the two metrics of money and power, and consists of four pillars: well-being, wisdom, wonder, and giving. These four pillars make up the four sections of this book. — Arianna Huffington

Metrics Quotes By Dave Barry

Nobody in the United States knows what either a "meter" or a "kilogram" is. The whole reason why we fought the Cold War was so we wouldn't have to learn the metric system. — Dave Barry

Metrics Quotes By Joe Lhota

What was unique about me being in City Hall during the Giuliani Administration, I was the only one who wasn't an attorney. I may have been the only one who didn't work in a prosecutor's office. So I took a completely different point of view on how the city should be run. Very close to a business, very close on metrics and numbers. — Joe Lhota

Metrics Quotes By Srinivas Rao

When you're the only person who could have created a work of art, the competition and standard metrics by which things are measured become irrelevant because nothing can replace you. The factors that distinguish you are so personal than nobody can replicate them. — Srinivas Rao

Metrics Quotes By Lincoln Chafee

Here is a bold embrace of internationalism. Let's join the rest of the world and go metric. — Lincoln Chafee

Metrics Quotes By Christine Pelosi

Sitting at a candidate rally is similar to sitting in a ballyard. Both give you the opportunity to assess the technical metrics and reflect on the intangibles - what baseball calls 'make up' and politics calls 'character' - the leadership, talent and maturity to add value to a venture. — Christine Pelosi

Metrics Quotes By Victor Koo

Youku Tudou kicked off 2014 in a positive direction. Mobile has become the number one screen for Youku Tudou, and we are the undisputed leader in all of the important mobile video traffic metrics. — Victor Koo

Metrics Quotes By Thomas R. Insel

Nearly every business collects metrics on inventory, sales, and workplace process. Health care has been slow to measure these kinds of outcomes. Increasingly, general medicine, via either managed care or large practice settings, is improving by collecting data through electronic records and refining practice based on what works. — Thomas R. Insel

Metrics Quotes By Keith Rabois

It's never a metric, it's where the person is going or not. Metrics are used to make things work better, but don't necessarily make a business better. — Keith Rabois

Metrics Quotes By Chris Hughes

People are not good at expressing their frustration. The best way to listen to the customer is through metrics. — Chris Hughes

Metrics Quotes By Simon Mainwaring

Some critics have challenged what the return on investment is for engagement in social media. Others have complained that the metrics don't exist to demonstrate value. — Simon Mainwaring

Metrics Quotes By Keith Rabois

You need to simplify the value proposition in the company's metrics for success on a whiteboard. — Keith Rabois

Metrics Quotes By Peter F. Drucker

What's measured improves — Peter F. Drucker

Metrics Quotes By Gordon Bethune

It's not about market share. If you have a successful company, you will get your market share. But to get a successful company, what do you have to have? The same metrics of success that your customer does. — Gordon Bethune

Metrics Quotes By Carl Honore

We live in a culture that's been hijacked by the management consultant ethos. We want everything boiled down to a Power Point slide. We want metrics and 'show me the numbers.' That runs counter to the immensely complex nature of so many social, economic and political problems. You cannot devise an algorithm to fix them. — Carl Honore

Metrics Quotes By Mark Twain

If the metrics you are looking at aren't useful in optimizing your strategy - stop looking at them. — Mark Twain

Metrics Quotes By Rene Carayol

Mentoring is all about people - it's about caring, about relationships and sensitivity. As it becomes increasingly in vogue it is becoming too formulated - concerned with performance metrics, critical success factors, investment and spending. It'll be a disaster. — Rene Carayol

Metrics Quotes By John Battelle

Boxes and rectangles on the side or top of a website simply do not deliver against brand advertising goals. Like it or not, boxes and rectangles have for the most part become the province of direct response advertising, or brand advertising that pays, on average, as if it's driven by direct response metrics. — John Battelle

Metrics Quotes By David McRaney

Men are easy to manipulate thanks to having fewer metrics by which they judge potential mates, and thus advertising has long been preying on their tendencies. Women will buy products in an attempt to become the impossible goal. Men will buy products in an attempt to mate with the impossible goal. Sexy and sexist advertising can kill two birds with one stone. — David McRaney

Metrics Quotes By Clayton M Christensen

When I have my interview with my God, our conversation will focus on the individuals whose self-esteem I was able to strengthen, whose faith I was able to reinforce, and whose discomfort I was able to assuage - a doer of good, regardless of what assignment I had. These are the metrics of that matter in measuring my life. This realization, which occurred nearly fifteen years ago, guided me every day to seek opportunities to help people in ways tailored to their individual circumstances. My happiness and my sense of worth has been immeasurably improved as a result. — Clayton M Christensen

Metrics Quotes By Wendy Brown

The popular contemporary wisdom that a liberal arts education is outmoded is true only to the extent that social equality, liberty, and worldly development of mind and character are outmoded and have been displaced by another set of metrics: income streams, profitability, technological innovation. — Wendy Brown

Metrics Quotes By David Kirkpatrick

This thrilled Zuckerberg, whose primary measure of the service's success was how often users returned. — David Kirkpatrick

Metrics Quotes By John Mackey

Your typical business just measures the metrics that have to do with the profitability of the business one way or another. But you can have metrics that measure employee happiness and the morale. You can also do direct customer surveys; you can track it over time. You can do supplier satisfaction scores as well. — John Mackey

Metrics Quotes By Seth Godin

Insulate yourself ...
from anonymous angry people
Expose yourself to art you don't yet understand
Precisely measure the results that are important to you
Stay blind to the metrics that don't matter
Fail often
Ship
Lead, don't manage so much
Seek out uncomfortable situations
Make an impact on the people who matter to you
Be better at your baseline skills than anyone else
Copyedit less, invent more
Give more speeches
Ignore unsolicited advice — Seth Godin

Metrics Quotes By Lance Hayden

The important point to emphasize is that security metrics are a journey and not a destination. — Lance Hayden

Metrics Quotes By Vinod Khosla

If I collected all the diamonds in the world, I'd have no 'income' but I'd have a lot of 'assets'. Would my company be worth nothing because I have no income? A lot of Net companies are collecting assets. They have to be measured with a new set of metrics. — Vinod Khosla

Metrics Quotes By Stefan Heck

A company at the top of its game has accumulated a number of rules of thumb - implicit assumptions and beliefs about what has been central to its success. New technologies and business models belie or change some of those assumptions, but they only seem sensible if the management team can become aware of those implicit assumptions and mind-sets and suspend them for a moment to contemplate the change. It's very hard to do that with the inherited wisdom, experience, and lore of a company. This is why the failures of incumbents to capture the benefits of disruptive innovations are a result not of bad managers, but of good managers practicing what they have done best. Incremental innovations can quickly be scaled and incorporated. Disruptive innovations require changes in customer sets, business models, or performance metrics that are no longer consistent with what led to success in the past. — Stefan Heck
